Students in the Communication Studies and Journalism atrium

The Faculty of Arts and Science is composed of twenty-one departments and six colleges. It has a long tradition of a dedication to teaching and research, derived from its historical beginnings as two separate institutions, Sir George Williams’ University and Loyola College.

Concordia University (the merger of the two institutions occurred in 1974) is located on two campuses, one downtown (Sir George Williams) and one in the west end of the island (Loyola Campus). The Faculty of Arts and Science has departments on both campus and administrative offices on the Loyola Campus. There you will also find most of the Science departments as well as Journalism and Communication Studies and Applied Human Sciences. The Loyola Campus also boasts the Vanier Library, residences, a renowned concert hall (The Oscar Peterson Concert Hall) and a pleasant campus dotted with trees and flowers.

The Sir George Williams Campus is located in downtown Montreal. It is a vibrant mixture of academic facilities (The Birks Student Service Center, The Webster Library, an Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery, the Grey Nuns Residence) and public amenities. Here you will find most of the Humanities and Social Science departments.
