If you submit a paper dossier, submit only ONE (1) copy in file folder(s) with an elastic band holding the application together. Kindly complete the checklist provided and place it on top of your submission. Do not put your application in binders. Do not use staples or paper clips and note that all pages to be scanned should be on single-sided 8.5 x 11 paper. Do not put either coloured sheets or dividers between the sections of your dossier.
If you submit an electronic dossier, follow the checklist and include the checklist with your submission. Further, the dossier must be presented in a single document (no folders, no separate parts for the dossier).
The material in your application for promotion to Professor should contain the following (in the specified order):

1. Letter of Application This should specify under which clause of Article 14.05 the application for promotion is being made. If you choose to provide statements on research, teaching and service within the letter of application rather than as separate documents, then do not duplicate the same information in items 3,4 or 5 (they may be omitted). Your letter, or statements, should address the successes and difficulties you may have encountered.
2. List of proposed referees Please use the “Referee Worksheet - Promotion to Professor” available at this web site to submit your list of referees who are in a position to evaluate your suitability for promotion to Professor. If you are applying under article 14.05.c), the referees should be experts in the field at other universities and institutions. If you are applying under 14.05.d), the referees should be a mix of faculty from Concordia and from other institutions who can attest to your effectiveness as a teacher and to your contribution to the pedagogy in the discipline. If you are applying under article 14.05.e), the referees should be from within Concordia. In all cases, the evaluators should hold the rank of Professor (or equivalent) at their respective institutions. The letters to evaluators will be sent by your department chair. A copy of the letter of solicitation will be attached by the DPC when the letters and the DPC report are forwarded to the Dean’s office for review by the FPTC.
3. Curriculum Vitae Please prepare your c.v., dated and paginated, in the following order:
4. Research Statement You may include a statement on your research. This should also elaborate on your evaluation of your research and your plans for the future.
5. Teaching Statement You may include a statement on your teaching philosophy. You may want to include the information regarding the typical level of student in your courses. For example, if you taught a general education course, you may want to note that most of the students were non-program students. If you have experienced any problems with your teaching, you should discuss that in your application and how you have addressed them.
6. Service Statement You may include a statement regarding service. If you choose to do so, please explain the amount of work expected - for example, if you were an editor of a journal, how many papers did you have to review during the period? If you served on an external granting agency review committee, how many applications you were responsible for reading, etc.
7. Research Dossier - Please refer to Article 14.05 c) i) and 14.01 of the CUFA collective agreement. i) Please include one copy of every publication listed in your c.v. If you have had a paper accepted for publication, include proof of acceptance in your research dossier. If you have had a paper accepted for a conference which has not yet occurred, include proof of acceptance in your research dossier.
8. Teaching Dossier - Please refer to Article 14.05 d) i) and 14.01 d) and e) Include all course evaluation summary sheets from CTLS in the same order as listed in the curriculum vitae. You should also include a list of thesis and other student research supervisions. You may include course outlines, handouts, etc. in this dossier. These should be single-sided with any staples removed. Do not submit any anonymous student evaluative information.
9. Service Dossier - Please refer to Article 14.01 j) You may wish to include in this dossier; letters of appointment to committees, agencies, review boards, letters of thanks for services rendered, etc.
10. Supplementary Material (if applicable) You may include books, CDs, DVDs and sample course packs as supplementary material. Each item should have a photocopy of identifying information (such as a title page) placed within the appropriate dossier.
