Once you have received your letter of admission, please make sure to confirm your acceptance. As soon as possible, make an appointment to meet with your departmental advisor. Your department will inform you of any orientation and advising sessions which have been planned for new students.
In addition, the Office of Counselling and Development organizes orientation sessions, called Discover Concordia. It is important that you attend one of these sessions as well as your departmental orientation sessions. At Discover Concordia, you will learn about the unversity in general and its services. For example, you will learn about the various student organizations, the services offered by Counselling Development (such as the Peer Tutor Service, learning and studying skills workshops, essay writing workshops), and you can be taken on a tour of the campuses. Counsellors from Student Academic Services in the Faculty of Arts and Science will also be there to present the services which they offer and to introduce themselves to you. They will help you make your way through all of the documentation that you will need to understand as a student – from your letter of admission, through your academic record, to your final graduation GPA.
